Good News! The Program of Radio and Television was Approved as a National First-Class Program

(Reported by Shang Yuanyuan) Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the list of national first-class undergraduate programs for the year 2021, and the program of radio and television of this School was approved in the list, which is the first time for the School to get the national first-class undergraduate program, making a historical breakthrough.

According to the Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on the Implementation of the "Double Ten-Thousand Plan" for the Construction of First-class Undergraduate Programs, the Ministry of Education has organized the application for the national first-class undergraduate programs in 2021. After online application by colleges and universities, review by the competent departments of colleges and universities and evaluation and voting recommendation by the Teaching Steering Committee of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, our undergraduate program of Radio and Television was approved as a national first-class undergraduate program construction point in 2021.

The University began to enroll students in Radio and Television Journalism in 2002, and later adjusted to Radio and Television Studies according to the new program catalogue. In the 20 years of school running practice, the program of radio and television, relying on the advantageous disciplines of the University, has integrated earth science, environmental science and other disciplines with its own major on the premise of entering the mainstream, carried out various teaching and creative activities, and formed a unique mode of geoscience popularization and communication education with professional characteristics. At the same time, a number of corresponding teaching and research achievements have been formed, and key strengths have been gradually formed in the accumulation of achievements, teacher background, popular science talent training and academic platform. In the professional and discipline evaluation carried out in recent years, the characteristic direction of science and technology communication of our University has been unanimously recognized by peer experts outside the University.

"Building first-class undergraduate education with capacity building as the center!" Prof. Zhang Meizhen, head of the program, talked about the focus of program construction in the future. Based on the future, the School will continue to strengthen professional construction, further consolidate the foundation of undergraduate education, and the radio and television personnel will make steady progress, forge ahead and continuously improve the quality of talent training.
