School of Arts and Communication Holds the Symposium on Student Work – Department of Journalism and Communication

At 10:00 am on May 19, the symposium on student work of the School of Arts and Communication (Department of Journalism and Communication) was held in Room 1308, the office of the Department of Journalism and Communication. Zhang Meizhen, Deputy Dean, Bian Jianhua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, all the leadership team of the Department of Journalism and Communication, class teachers, outstanding alumni Tsering Dantar, and Shan Tianyi, Chen Xiliang and Zeng Gehui, counselors of Student Affairs Leading Group, attended the symposium. Bian Jianhua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, presided over the symposium.

First of all, Secretary Bian extended a warm welcome to the outstanding alumnus Tsering Dantar, and invited him to make a presentation to all teachers and students of the School as the first guest of the “Alumni Forum for the 70th Anniversary of the University”. Tsering Dantar also introduced his study history in China University of Geosciences and his work experience in alpine photography in the Tibetan Mountaineering Team. Dean Zhang and the participating teachers also talked about the outstanding performance of Tsering Dantar alumni during his school years and congratulated him on his great achievements in his career. On behalf of the Student Affairs Leading Group, Deputy Secretary Bian Jianhua firstly introduced the basic management and cultivation data of students in relevant majors of the Department of Journalism and Communication, and made a detailed introduction to the attending teachers from seven aspects, including admission, employment, scholarship awards for graduate and undergraduate students, competition awards for various majors, key students in mental health database, and party member development. After the introduction, both leaders and class teachers of the department had a comprehensive and objective understanding on the whole.

 

Then he introduced the relevant ideas of the student affairs leading group on the work of class teachers. It is planned to hold regular exchange meetings for class teachers every semester, regularly carry out work evaluation for class teachers (questionnaire), and select excellent class teachers every year. He hoped that the class teachers would be more involved in class management and do well in students’ ideological guidance, mental health education, and academic and employment assistance.

At the symposium, the teachers had a full discussion, made positive statements around students’ mental health education, enrollment publicity, study style construction and professional training programs, and put forward many valuable guiding and constructive opinions, which are very helpful to improve the pertinence and effectiveness of the student work of the School in the next step.
