Vice President Wang Hua Visited School of Arts and Communication for Investigation and Guidance

(Reported by Shen Yanhua) At 8:30 am on May 17, Wang Hua, Vice President of CUG, Zhou Jianwei, Executive Deputy Dean of the Undergraduate School, Wang Ying, Deputy Dean, Yang Fei, Deputy Dean, and heads of relevant departments visited the School of Arts and Communication for investigation. All members of the party and government leadership team, department heads, secretaries and deputy department heads in charge of teaching attended the meeting which was hosted by Dean Gui Yuhui. The meeting focused on the construction of undergraduate majors, teaching evaluation and the revision of undergraduate talent training program.

 

First of all, Dean Gui expressed a warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to President Wang and his team on behalf of all the faculty and students. Zhou Jianwei, Executive Deputy Dean of the Undergraduate School, briefly introduced a series of reforms carried out by the university in recent years to promote undergraduate talent training, and introduced the theme of this research. Yang Zhe, Deputy Dean of the School of Arts and Communication, introduced in detail the basic situation of the preparation and implementation of the detailed rules for the implementation of undergraduate teaching evaluation of the School to all the participants, and reported the problems in teaching evaluation in this year.

Then, teachers from the School of Arts and Communication fully expressed their opinions on undergraduate teaching, especially teaching evaluation. Vice President Wang Hua listened carefully to the opinions of the participating teachers and responded to relevant questions.

Guo Xiurong, Secretary of the Party Committee, made additional explanation on the development of teaching evaluation system and the problems existing in the implementation process in combination with the current situation of title evaluation in the School.

Zhou Jianwei, Executive Deputy Dean of the Undergraduate School, highly recognized the aesthetic education work of the School of Arts and Communication, and also summarized and responded to some of the questions from the participating teachers. He fully affirmed the obvious improvement of teachers’ teaching level and students’ learning achievement in the past two years of teaching evaluation, and hoped that all teachers of the School would actively plan professional development and make more achievements in textbook construction, application of teaching achievement awards, undergraduate talent training and so on.

Vice President Wang Hua made a concluding speech and put forward hopes and suggestions for the development of the School. First, the improvement of undergraduate teaching space. It is suggested that the School put forward clear demands and budget plans and report them to the head of the university in charge and relevant functional departments for steady progress. Second. The practice of “one school, one policy” in teaching evaluation is worthy of recognition, and the School should continue to promote the improvement of undergraduate education level through evaluation. Third, the School should strengthen investigation and research, and earnestly revise the talent training program.
