Counselors of the School of Arts and Communication are in Action in the Fight against the “Epidemic”

The epidemic is an order and prevention and control is a responsibility. On April 22, facing a new round of epidemic, all full-time and part-time counselors of the School of Arts and Communication, led by Bian Jianhua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, immediately switched to "wartime status" to contribute their strength to build a solid campus defense against the "epidemic". As Fangjia Village and Xitou Village in the North Quarter were included in the control area, all counselors were on line late at night, checking one by one, promptly informing and caring for and guiding, doing their best to ensure the students’ health and safety and maintain campus stability.

According to the requirements of the university notice, at about 9 pm on the 22nd, Bian Jianhua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, held the online meeting for student affairs leading group in the first place to arrange the relevant work, and led the full-time and part-time counselors of the student affairs leading group to check the key areas, and they were busy until two o'clock in the morning. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, Deputy Secretary Bian Jianhua insisted on going to the offline office of the Office Building in the North Quarter every day, coordinating all the epidemic investigation work, dealing with emergencies in each grade, and handling many cases of students taking leave to go out due to illness and affairs, such as: undergraduate student Li and graduate student Yang who took leave to go out for special reasons. He also helped to resolve the emotional and psychological problems of many students.

Shan Tianyi, a counselor of the School, rushed back to the School from the her residence in Zhongnan as soon as she received the notice on the evening of April 22, and joined the front line of the "epidemic", actively practicing her original intention and mission in her ordinary position. She led Gao Tianshi and Yang Binbin, the graduate student moral education assistants, to investigate 472 graduate and doctoral students, contacted students in the key areas identified one by one by phone for epidemiological survey, and established an epidemiological survey work group, working until 3:00 in the middle of the night. Then, through the class committee, grade group, class committee group and other means, she informed the students of the latest epidemic prevention regulations, carried out epidemic prevention publicity, and tracked their nucleic acid testing every day. She also actively kept in touch with master supervisors and sent out an initiative to every master supervisor through the master supervisors group to fight the epidemic and overcome the difficulties together. She made a thorough survey of the students' online learning to understand their learning situation, collected the difficulties encountered by students in online learning, and actively fed back to the graduate secretary of the School. While doing a good job in epidemic prevention, she didn’t relax the employment work, actively improved the employment account, and tracked the progress of each graduate's job hunting and employment on a point-to-point basis. On the afternoon of the 23rd, she also organized the 15th "Art Hall" alumni lecture for western program propaganda and exchange. In addition to doing her own work well, she actively responded to the call of the University, and actively participated in nucleic acid testing volunteer activities for 6 times, with a total of more than 4,000 information entry.

 

 

 

Chen Xiliang, counselor of the School, since Xitou Village was included in the control area, stayed in the counselor dormitory of the park at the earliest time. At 9:00 pm on the 22nd, he led part-time counselor Gao Ting to contact all class members and conveyed the epidemic prevention and control requirements of University, and checked the recent travel trajectories of all undergraduates of Grade 2020 in the first place. In response to the request to strengthen humanistic care for students in segregated dormitories of the University and the School, through the student party building office of the School, he mobilized and arranged student party members and party activists to participate in volunteer services and send meals and supplies to segregated students without contact, so as to guarantee the supply of living materials. While doing his job, he actively participated in the nucleic acid testing work of the University, serving as an information entry clerk several times, participating in a total of 6 times and entering a total of more than 4,000 people. He took the initiative and the lead in singing up to participate in the epidemiological survey of CUG Community on behalf the School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information, asking residents one by one by phone about their recent flow trajectories, nucleic acid testing results and identity information, and he completed the task on time and reported to CUG Community.

 

After receiving the investigation notice from the University on the evening of April 22, counselor Zeng Gehui immediately called the monitors and League branch secretaries to carry out investigation and statistics by class, and completed the investigation of 234 undergraduate students of Grade 2021 at 2 am in the morning. On the 23rd, he held a regular class committee meeting through online Tencent Meeting to convey the spirit of the University's meeting and arrange the relevant work in the near future. For the four dormitory students to be controlled in the investigation, he contacted them one by one by phone to understand the situation and contacted the class league secretary to help bring meals and buy living materials to ensure their living. Affected by the epidemic, the health code of four students in the grade turned yellow, resulting in the emotional panic of the students in the class. The counselor comforted their emotions by forwarding popular science articles in the grade group, class committee group and notice group to explain the epidemiological survey knowledge to the students, and asked them to truthfully report their personal itineraries and tracks. During the epidemic, in addition to the regular screening and statistics, other work did not stop there. Counselors learned about students' studies by attending online classes, dealt with urgent dormitory conflicts by visiting dormitories, and provided humanistic care to students with psychological priorities by telephone connection. As counselors who need to go deep and be rooted in the front line, "where the students are, we are", the more difficult the time is, the more we have to work together and rise to the challenge through all resources.

 

Xiao Linyi, a part-time counselor of the School, has been working hard online, putting her heart into her work and building a strong line of defense between the virus and the students with dedication and pragmatic style. At 9 pm on the 22nd, she investigated more than 240 undergraduates of Grade 2019, quickly identified more than 20 key students and contacted them one by one. She made use of the grade group to explain the epidemic prevention policies to the students to improve the investigation efficiency, and actively gave play to the student backbone role of the Youth League Committee and dormitory head of each class to master student information. Through the class teachers exchange group, she worked with teachers to build a line of defense against the epidemic for students. For students who made applications to go out, she verified and communicated by phone, for students whose health code turned yellow, she strengthened the psychological guidance for them, and get in touch with the community to propose solutions to reduce the impact of university closure on students.

 

Huang Tianyou and Zhou Yue, part-time counselors of the School, are mainly responsible for the undergraduates of Grade 2018. They carried out epidemic investigation and prevention and control in the first place, fully mobilized the strength of the class committee for full investigation without missing one person, and made records for the students at risk of exposure. They built the class teacher, counselor and student cadre management mode, which gave greater play to the educational and guiding role of class teachers in epidemic prevention and control. They issued the nucleic acid testing notice every day and insisted on collecting the results of nucleic acid testing completed by off-campus residential students in the community; they collaborated online to handle the refunds of airline tickets and class fees and the employment recommendation forms and employment agreements for 25 students; they conducted online psychological counseling for some students with significant mood swings and worked with peers to carry out psychological counseling to build a firm line of defense for psychological safety under the epidemic.
