School of Arts and Communication was Awarded as an Advanced Unit in Scientific Research Management by CUG

(Reported by Shang Yuanyuan, Cheng Huangxin) On the afternoon of December 16, 2021, CUG held a mobilization meeting for the application of the National Social Science Fund of China in 2022 and the 2021 Commendation Meeting for Advanced Social Science Research Management Units in the conference room of Octagon Building. Vice President Liu Yongsheng, leaders of the Science and Technology Development Institute, deans of all liberal arts schools, deputy deans in charge of scientific research and representatives of teachers who meet the conditions for applying for Social Science Fund attended the meeting, which was hosted by Hu Xiangyun, executive deputy dean of Science and Technology Development Institute.

The meeting firstly commended the units and individuals who made remarkable achievements in project application and daily management of scientific research in 2021, and this school was awarded as an advanced unit in social science scientific research management and Zhou Hua was awarded the advanced individual in social science scientific research management.

Six experts and scholars then shared their experience in scientific research integrity and academic standards and fund application. As winners of the National Social Science Fund of China, Associate Professor Xu Qing and Associate Professor Fang Hao of this School presented their results and shared their experience at the conference on their topics. They shared wonderfully for the teachers present from academic growth, practical growth, and late topic selection and application, demonstrating our teachers’ scientific research spirit of pursuing academic excellence, being practical and aggressive, and making great progress.

In recent years, the School has been strengthening effective measures to enhance teachers' awareness and ability in scientific research, actively mobilizing young and middle-aged key teachers (under 45 years old with doctoral degree) to apply for various projects and attend high-level academic conferences, and the number of teachers applying for various projects and awards has increased year by year, and they also have achieved some landmark results. For example, three government-level scientific research awards were granted last year, and two teachers were granted the National Social Science Fund of China this year. After the mobilization meeting, the School will carry out the application of topics for key objects in an organized manner and implement the task of applying for the next round of scientific research achievement awards relevant person, to strive to achieve new achievements in 2022.
