(Correspondent: Shen Yanhua) At 2:30 p.m. on September 30, 2021, the applause thundered in 1104 lecture hall of School of Arts and Communication, and all the faculty and staff of the School warmly welcomed Professor Gong Yiming from the School of Earth Sciences to pass on his experience. His report entitled “Knowledge and Practice of Curriculum Ideological and Political Education -- A Professional Course Teacher's Insights on Learning and Thinking” drew wide participation from the participants.
Professor Gong Yiming began his detailed report with three ones (one life, one thing and one experience). First, the essence of curriculum ideological and political education. Second, the cause of curriculum ideological and political education. Third, the strategy of curriculum ideological and political.
Curriculum ideological and political education refers to the practice of ideological and political education at all levels and in all kinds of courses, walking in the same direction with ideological and political courses, so as to form a synergistic effect of building morality and cultivating people.
From the large amount of data and cases presented in the report, we further clarify that curriculum ideological and political education is the necessity of the development of higher education in new China, the reality of the current situation of education in new China, and the necessity of educational development in ancient and modern China and foreign countries and the realization of the strategy of strengthening the country with talents.
When talking about the general strategy of curriculum ideological and political education, Professor Gong Yiming unreservedly shared the 48H teaching design case of the national first-class course “Historical Geology” which he taught. From the classification and excavation of ideological and political elements, to the presentation of syllabus, to teaching design, classroom display and looking back after class, a course not only showed the individual's "thinking quality, scientific spirit, innovation ability and humanistic cultivation", but also showed the "family and country feelings, social responsibility, moral norms and legal consciousness". At the same time, he reminded teachers of the minefield of curriculum ideological and political education, and reminded teachers to avoid "homogenization, routinization and slogan”, they should accumulate learning, cultivation and teaching skills to bring good and golden lessons to students.
At the end of the report, Mr. Gong encouraged the faculty members with “the success of teachers is to cultivate students worthy of their worship”. And patiently listened to and answered the questions of several teachers.
The University issued the work plan for “Curriculum Ideological and Political Education” in October 2020. So far, the first batch of 20 courses of various majors in our School has intended to start curriculum ideological and political construction. “Introduction to Journalism and Communication”, one course of journalism major has been approved to enter the substantive construction stage.
