On July 13, 2021, all students of Class 16S202, Class 16S203 and Class 16S205 in design science of School of Arts and Communication went to Red Flag Canal for summer investigation and visited the Red Flag Canal Memorial Hall. This year is the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). In the hot weather, students were excited and expressed their deep blessings for the centennial birthday of the Party.
The Red Flag Canal, located in Linzhou City, Anyang, Henan Province, is known as “The Eighth Wonder of the World”. It was built by the people of Lin County under extremely difficult conditions from the hillside of Taihang Mountain in the 1960s, and it was called “man-made heavenly river”. At that time, Lin County was extremely short of water. In order to solve the problem of drinking water, the people spontaneously formed the red flag canal spirit of “self-reliance, hard work, unity and cooperation and selfless dedication”, which has become a valuable spiritual wealth.
In the Red Memorial Hall, the sustenance of the Red Flag Canal’s red spirit is displayed, which witnessed to the fearlessness and bravery of the people’s hard struggle and exploration in that era. The students from CUG felt the times value of practical education, the charm of Chinese traditional culture, the excitement of historical journey, the firmness of faith power, the tempering of spirit, the baptism of soul, and the majestic power of forging ahead in youth.
On the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, standing at a new historical starting point, let the Red Flag Canal spirit shine again in the new era, let the flag of the Red Flag Canal spirit fly high, and let the Chinese dream become a reality in the relay struggle of generations of young people.
