March 31, 2021

(Correspondent Zhang Jingdan) The second future life and sustainable design ------ The 2020 International Symposium on Design Ergonomics was hosted by the School of Arts and Communication of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) from Dec. 29th to 30th in 2020. With the theme of  Future · Cognition · Inclusion , the cross and integration mechanism was discussed based on human factors engineering, design methodology and neuroscience. Held in the way of online video and shared with original English live through various global platforms, the meeting attracted 154,000 person times viewing globally.

This symposium was sponsored by the Design Ergonomics Branch of Chinese Ergonomics Society, organized by China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Ningbo University, Southeast University and Beijing Institute of Human Intelligence Engineering Technology, and co-sponsored by Beijing Jinfa Technology Co., Ltd and Tsinghua University. Honorary Chairmen Zhang Wei, Lu Xiaobo, Lou Yongqi and Ji Tie, Chairman of the Organizing Committee Xue Chengqi and Benyamin Schwarz, and Vice Chairmen Gui Yuhui, Huo Faren, Frans Vogelaar and Zhao Qichao attended the meeting.

The conference forum was held on the morning of the 29th . Zhang Wei, Chairman of Chinese Ergonomics Society , Fu Anzhou, vice president of China University of Geosciences( Wuhan) and Feng Jie, deputy secretary of Ningbo University delivered speeches respectively. Subsequently, the representatives had a deeper exchange on the frontier and hotspot issues of the design ergonomics. Professor Xue Chengqi of Southeast University gave a special lecture on  Industrial design research under the background of interdisciplinary.  , which was a prelude  to the meeting. Next, professors from Purdue University, University of Missouri, Zhejiang University and Beijing Jiaotong University and other first class universities at home and broad gave lectures on special topics separately. Professor Fang Weining of Beijing Jiaotong University, taking the design of high speed railway in China as an example, revealed that human factors design was not a simple engineering or design problem and also showed  the Chinas industrial design strength to the world. Dr. Priscilla Chueng-Nainby from University of Edinburgh gave a special lecture on  Build epidemic board : Integrating user research into digital service design.  , infusing design discipline strength into solving global epidemic challenges.

The second day of the conference consisted of youth forum and student forum. Young professors, associate professors and PhDs from universities at home and abroad participated in the speech as the major part of the youth forum. Associate professors Hou Guanhua and Fang Hao, Dr. Gao Huile and other professionals gave speeches respectively, which evoked strong repercussions from experts and scholars at the meeting. As for the student forum, student representatives had a deeper discussion on the frontier and hotspot issues of the design ergonomics. The online atmosphere was warm.

Last, Huo Faren, a teacher from  Ningbo University, made a concluding speech at the closing ceremony. He gave thanks to the great support from leaders, participants and working staff and also expressed the expectation of holding the symposium again next year.
